Walk-A-Thon Sponsors Many thanks to Apartment People for their support of our school! |
For the third year in a row, St. Stanislaus Kostka School conducted their annual Walk-A-Thon -- affectionately known as the “Wildcat Walk” – on Friday, October 21, 2011. Held during Health and Fitness Week, our end in mind was to not only raise funds for various educational initiatives, but to promote and celebrate a healthy lifestyle. Students in 2nd-8th grade walked 2.6 miles within the Wicker Park area, right off of Division Street. Students in PS-1st grade walked one time around Pulaski Park and then came back to school to bounce around in an inflatable and then do some relay races and fun games. Students worked hard in the weeks preceding the walk to earn pledges. When certain amounts were raised, students earned incentives--i.e., Walk-a-thon water bottle, St. Stan's t-shirt, and other raffle drawings. Thanks to business sponsorships and individual pledges, students were able to raise just over $5,000, which helped fill the gap between the actual cost of educating and the charged tuition (a difference of $1,350 for each student during the 2011-2012 school year).
A Heart-Felt Thank You to our 2012 Walk-a-thon Sponsors
